Description

Supports the press operation by ensuring a steady and consistent flow of fiber mats into the press while maintaining equipment functionality and addressing operational challenges. Monitors material handling systems, troubleshoots mechanical issues, assist with start-up and shutdown procedures, and working closely with press operator to optimize production efficiency. Plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations by maintaining mat formation, trimming, and handling systems before pressing.

Tasks

  • Monitor and maintain mat forming systems, conveyors, and pre-press areas for steady material flow.
  • Conduct routine inspections of forming belts, rollers, weight belts, and alignment systems.
  • Identify and clear blockages or material buildup in the boardline to maintain production.
  • Assist with press start-up and shutdown procedures, ensuring system readiness and material feed.
  • Collaborate with press operators to adjust mat density, moisture, and resin for optimal performance.
  • Support maintenance by preparing equipment for repairs and assisting with preventative tasks.
  • Adhere to LOTO and PPe requirements, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

Qualifications / Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months or more of work experience
  • Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in material handling, forklift operation, production operation, machine operation, or utility
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
