Description

Responsible for overseeing material flow and mechanical operation of the refining system. Ensures that raw wood chips are properly processed and fed into the refining system while maintaining equipment functionality, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and supporting maintenance activities. Plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation of the refining process by managing material handling systems, conducting equipment inspections, and addressing operational challenges.

Tasks

  • Monitor and maintain chip handling systems for consistent material supply to the refiner.
  • Conduct routine inspections of refining equipment, including chip bins and conveyors.
  • Identify and clear blockages to ensure smooth operation of the refining system.
  • Assist with start-up and shutdown procedures, including purging and cleaning refiner components.
  • Collaborate with refiner operators to troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
  • Support maintenance by preparing equipment for repairs and assisting with preventative tasks.
  • Adhere to LOTO and PPe requirements, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

Qualifications / Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months or more of work experience
  • Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in material handling, forklift operation, production operation, machine operation, or utility
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
