Description

Responsible for operating and maintaining saw system to accurately cut panels to the required dimensions while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety. This role involves monitoring cutting precision, adjusting saw settings, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and coordinating with other departments to maintain smooth production flow. Plays a critical role in ensuring that finished panels meet customer specs and production standards while minimizing waste.

Tasks

  • Operate and monitor saw system to cut panels to specified dimensions with precision accuracy.
  • Inspect panels for sizing, edge quality, and defects, adjusting saw settings as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on saw blades, ensuring proper alignment, sharpness, and replacement.
  • Clear blockages and monitor material flow to prevent jams and production delays.
  • Collaborate with sander operators and finishing teams to ensure smooth workflow and consistency.
  • Conduct routine saw equipment inspections and assist maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Record process data, including cut sizes, blade changes, downtime, and waste reduction efforts.

Qualifications / Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months or more of work experience
  • Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in material handling, forklift operation, production operation, machine operation, or utility
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
