Description
An orthodontist is a licensed dentist that specializes in diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities, primarily through braces, retainers, and other devices.
Tasks
- Diagnose misalignment and bite issues.
- Plan and implement orthodontic treatments.
- Monitor and adjust orthodontic appliances.
- Perform minor surgical procedures if necessary (e.g., exposure of impacted teeth).
Qualifications / Education
- DDS or DMD degree.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of advanced training in orthodontics through a specialized residency program.
- Board certification is optional but recommended.
