Description

An orthodontist is a licensed dentist that specializes in diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities, primarily through braces, retainers, and other devices.

Tasks

  • Diagnose misalignment and bite issues.
  • Plan and implement orthodontic treatments.
  • Monitor and adjust orthodontic appliances.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures if necessary (e.g., exposure of impacted teeth).

Qualifications / Education

  • DDS or DMD degree.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of advanced training in orthodontics through a specialized residency program.
  • Board certification is optional but recommended.
