Description

A general practice residency is a post-doctoral education program for licensed dentists interested in pursuing advanced, hospital-based training in general dentistry through exposure to a broad range of dental procedures. These residencies are designed for those who wish to enhance their clinical skills or pursue a more specialized dental career.

Tasks

  • Manage medically complex patients.
  • Perform advanced restorative and surgical procedures.
  • Develop skills in oral surgery, emergency care, and sedation techniques.
  • Gain experience in multidisciplinary care in collaboration with other health professionals.

Qualifications / Education

  • DDS or DMD degree.
  • Completion of a 1-year general practice residency program.
  • The GPR residency is often pursued by those who want additional clinical experience or want to enhance their skills before entering private practice or pursuing a specialty.
