Description

A dental anesthesiologist is a licensed dentist that specializes in the management of anesthesia and sedation techniques for patients undergoing dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety during complex or invasive treatments.

Tasks

  • Administer local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia for dental procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and ensure safety during all procedures.
  • Provide pain management and sedation for anxious or special needs patients.
  • Collaborate with oral surgeons and specialists for advanced dental treatments.

Qualifications / Education

  • DDS or DMD degree.
  • Completion of a 2-year residency program in dental anesthesia.
  • Board certification is available and often required for practice.
